Strassendalmis in Russland

Streunende Hunde gehören in Russland leider zum normalen Straßenbild. Nur ein Teil der Tiere wird aufgegriffen und in Tierheime gebracht, nicht selten werden sie dort wieder gewinnbringend verkauft, um nach kurzer Zeit wieder auf der Straße zu landen, wenn sie ihre Pflicht als Zuchthund, Wachhund oder Jagdhund nicht erfüllen oder durch Krankheiten Kosten verursachen.

Die wenigsten Straßenhunde Russlands finden in ihrer Heimat ein liebevolles, neues Zuhause. Viele müssen wieder zurück auf die Straßen um dort weiter ums Überleben kämpfen. Leider gibt es in Russland kein Tierschutzgesetz und so sind Tiere der Willkür der Menschen und auch der Behörden ausgesetzt. Trotz vieler engagierter Tierschützer verschärft sich die Situation für die Straßenhunde immer mehr. Inzwischen muss man schon fast von einer groß angelegten und systematischen Tierquälerei sprechen. Zum Alltag gehört es, dass aufgegriffene Tiere von sogenannten „Doghuntern“  vergiftet, erschlagen oder erschossen werden.  Auch in überfüllten Tierheimen wird sich der Hunde auf oftmals brutale Art entledigt, wenn der Platz zu eng wird, der Winter vor der Tür steht oder die Futterkosten überhand nehmen.  Menschen in Russland haben häufig einen schwierigen Umgang mit Haustieren. Da viele Menschen dort unter sozialen Problemen leiden, sind misshandelte und verstümmelte Hunde  tatsächlich schon eine Normalität. Dalmatiner sind auffällige Hunde und werden gerne von Bettlern, Obdachlosen und Alkoholikern gehalten, da sie durch ihr freundliches und auffälliges Aussehen die Spendenbereitschaft der Passanten erhöhen, je schlechter hierbei der Hund aussieht, umso mehr verdient man leider mit ihm. Ist er zu krank oder zu mager, ist es ein einfaches sich für wenig Geld einen neuen Hund zu beschaffen. Aber Gott sei Dank gibt es auch in Russland Tierfreunde und es findet langsam ein Umdenken in der Bevölkerung statt, die zunehmend Widerstand gegen die Behandlung der Straßenhunde zeigt.

Oft auch werden die Hunde bei einem Umzug einfach im Dorf zurückgelassen, mit Welpen oder alt und krank und sich selbst überlassen. Entweder sind sie so zum verhungern oder erfrieren verurteilt. Haben sie Glück, werden sie von Ortsansässigen auf genommen. Da diese Hunde meist in einem schlechten Allgemeinzustand sind und Tierarztkosten und zusätzliches Futter nicht finanziert werden können, wird vermehrt Hilfe bei privaten Tierschützern gesucht. So hat es sich etabliert, dass bei der Sichtung streunender Dalmatiner die private Auffangstation von Dalmatiner-Help in Moskau kontaktiert wird. Die freiwilligen Helfer und Helferinnen, fahren so oft tausende Kilometer ans andere Ende von Russland um streunende, kranke und verletzte Dalmatiner ein zu fangen oder sie von privaten Helfern ab zu holen, die leider selbst finanziell nicht in der Lage sind, sich um die Hunde zu kümmern.

Erschwerend kommen noch die kalten sibirischen Winter mit bis zu -50 Grad hinzu, welche Dalmatiner, aufgrund ihres fehlenden Winterfells, außerhalb eines beheizten Zuhauses nicht überleben. So wachen viele an der Kette, im Zwinger oder im Tierheim gehaltene Dalmatiner nach einer kalten Nacht nicht mehr auf.

Den Besitzern ist es nicht bewusst oder schlichtweg egal, dass ein Dalmatiner nicht als Kettenhund oder ganzjährig im Freien gehalten werden kann.

Da der Platz bei den Mädels von Dalmatiner Help begrenzt ist, versuchen sie die Dalmatiner übergangsweise in Pflegestellen vor Ort zu vermitteln.

Bis es allerdings so weit ist, fallen oft enorme Kosten für Tierarzt, Klinik und Kastration an. Hier versuchen wir mit Spenden zu unterstützen. Auf Grund dessen, daß die Pflegestellen oft selbst finanziell nicht in der Lage sind, einen weiteren Hund zu versorgen, sind diese dringend auf Patenschaften angewiesen, um die anfallenden kosten wie Tierarztbesuche und Futter auf zu fangen.
